Our goal is to teach our kids self defense, and the importance of respect in a fun, fast paced environment. Your child will learn how to use weapons such as the Bo (staff), Nunchucks, Kama, Sai, and Sword.
They will also learn other skills taught through Krav maga, Kickboxing and Kali.
Our Adult Martial Arts / Self -Defense class is a blend of many wonderful martial art styles: Karate, Aikido, Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Isshin-ryū and kick boxing.
Most places hold “Woman’s Self-Defense clinics” once every six months.
That’s way too much time between classes to forget vital knowledge and reflexes.
With the busy lives today’s women lead, it’s far too easy to forget something taught in a 2 hour class months ago.
For that reason, we at Martial Arts Academy want to equip women with the confidence to know they are capable of handling a potential dangerous situation should one arise.
Try a class for free and see just how much you DON’T know!
We have a special Sparring class held on Saturday mornings at 10:00AM.
Our 30 min fitness blast will get you up and moving within the limited time we all have these days! You don't have to spend hours in the gym to achieve your goals!

Taekwondo is a Korean kicking/punching art similar to karate. Master Swope teaches Kukkiwon Taekwondo and Chun Kuhn Taekwondo. Kukkiwon Taekwondo is sport Taekwondo featured in the Olympics and uses the Taegeuk and Yudanja system of patterns. Chun Kuhn Taekwondo is a traditional or hard style of Taekwondo developed by Supreme Master Kim Bok-Man, perhaps the most influential pioneer of Taekwon-Do, who was present when the art was named, helped develop 15 of the first Korean patterns for Taekwondo, and helped Gen. Choi write and develop the first English textbook about Taekwondo, published in 1965. While Kukkiwon Taekwondo does not teach weapons, Chun Kuhn Taekwondo features more than 36 patterns using traditional, i.e. sword, baton and staff, and non-traditional weapons, such as the bayonette and knife. Master Swope was taught first-hand by Supreme Master Kim since 2013.
Aikido was created by a Japanese master of Budo named Morehei Ueshiba. Ueshiba is most commonly referred to as O’Sensei which means Great Teacher. O’Sensei was born on December 14, 1883 in Tanabe prefecture, Japan.
O’Sensei studied many arts during his life time and was considered to be a master of many of them. His studies included Kenjutsu (particularly the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu of swordsmanship), jodo, sumo, as well as Aioi-ryu Jujitsu and Hozoin-ryu spear and bayonet arts. Each of the arts he studied influenced his beliefs and eventually helped him to form the art of Aikido.
The word “independent” in our name does not indicate that we are separate from others. In fact, our network is built on the relationships we cultivate with others. Instead, “independent” is a reminder to us that in the end, we are all on our own path. No one can tell you how to live your life. This is the path we walk on our own. Our Aikido is the same. In the beginning, your Aikido will be the Aikido of your sensei. You will mimic his movements, his philosophies, his ideals. Eventually you will step out of his shadow and begin to form your own version of Aikido.
